Patek Philippe in Milan: Inside Watch Art 2026

The Geneva manufacture brings more than 500 timepieces, rare handcrafts and seven Milan editions to Italy.

Patek Philippe has brought its Watch Art Grand Exhibition to Milan for 2026, creating an expansive look at the watches, craftsmanship and history behind one of Geneva's most closely guarded independent watchmakers.

Running from October 2 through October 18 at CityOval in CityLife, the exhibition brings together more than 500 timepieces and explores Patek Philippe through a series of dedicated rooms and demonstrations. Patek Philippe

A watch exhibition without being only a watch exhibition

Visitors move through rooms dedicated to the current collection, the Patek Philippe Museum, rare handcrafts, manufacturing, chiming watches and watchmaking.

There are also live demonstrations from watchmakers and artisans, offering a look at the highly specialized work that sits behind the finished object.

That distinction is important.

Patek Philippe's watches are the finished products, but the exhibition is designed to show everything surrounding them: the history, techniques, people and accumulated knowledge that make the watches possible.

The Milan editions

The exhibition also provides the occasion for a number of limited-edition watches created specifically for Milan.

Among them are two pieces that demonstrate just how differently Patek Philippe can approach its own design language.

The Calatrava 70076-010

The Calatrava 7007G-010 is perhaps the more restrained of the two. Its 38mm white-gold case houses a white lacquered dial with a central carbon-like pattern, charcoal-gray hands and numerals, and a white alligator strap. It is limited to 200 pieces.

The Aquanaut 5167A-014

The Aquanaut 5167A-014 takes an entirely different approach. Its 40.8mm steel case surrounds a blue sunburst dial with a black-gradient rim, the Aquanaut's characteristic embossed pattern and flashes of red. It comes on a midnight-blue composite strap and is limited to 250 pieces.

Both watches carry the inscription “Patek Philippe Milano 2026” on their sapphire casebacks.

Different watches, same movement

Interestingly, beneath those very different designs is the same mechanical foundation.

Both the Calatrava 7007G-010 and Aquanaut 5167A-014 use Patek Philippe's self-winding 26-330 S C caliber, with a date display, sweep seconds and stop-seconds function. The movement incorporates a 21K gold central rotor and provides a power reserve of approximately 35 to 45 hours.

It is a useful reminder that Patek's identity isn't confined to a particular aesthetic.

The same underlying watchmaking can appear in an understated dress watch or a much more contemporary sports watch.

Why Milan?

Watch Art exhibitions have become one of Patek Philippe's ways of taking the manufacture beyond Geneva and presenting its world directly to collectors and enthusiasts.

Milan is particularly appropriate.

The city has its own deep relationship with design, craftsmanship and luxury, making it a natural setting for an exhibition that places technical watchmaking alongside artistic craftsmanship and cultural history.

The result is something closer to a temporary Patek Philippe institution than a conventional product launch.

The significance of Watch Art

Perhaps the most interesting thing about Watch Art 2026 is the way it changes the context in which the watches are viewed.

A watch can be reduced to specifications: case size, material, movement, complication and price.

But standing alongside the people, history and craftsmanship responsible for those specifications creates a much fuller picture.

That is ultimately what makes an exhibition like Milan interesting.

The watches are the objects.
Watch Art is the world around them.
